Cameras Catch Queen Elizabeth Scolding Daughter Princess Anne at Crowded Buckingham Palace Reception

Just because she’s the longest-standing monarch doesn’t mean Queen Elizabeth can’t jokingly fight with her daughter, Princess Anne. And that’s exactly what happened during a recent get-together at Buckingham Palace.

It all started yesterday when the 93-year-old royal hosted a reception for NATO leaders at her London abode. When Queen Elizabeth noticed that Princess Anne was missing from the welcoming line, she jokingly scolded the 69-year-old royal. Much to our delight, the entire thing was captured on camera.

In a video obtained by The Guardian, Queen Elizabeth can be seen greeting her guests alongside Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles.

At the :40 mark, the monarch notices that Princess Anne is standing off in the distance and tries to get her attention to join the welcoming line. Princess Anne responds by widening her arms and shrugging, prompting bystanders to laugh at the exchange.

The event marked the 70th anniversary of the NATO alliance. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization was originally established in 1949 by 12 founding members. Not only was the U.K. one of those parties, but London was also home to the very first NATO headquarters.

Other royal attendees included Kate Middleton (Duchess of Cambridge), Prince Edward (Earl of Wessex), Prince Richard (Duke of Gloucester), Birgitte van Deurs (Duchess of Gloucester) and Princess Alexandra (The Honourable Lady Ogilvy).

Royals, they’re just like us…even when it comes to mother-daughter fights.
