A ‘Call the Midwife’ Holiday Special Is Airing on Christmas Day

If you’re a Call the Midwife fan, you won’t want to miss this holiday special. The show, which has more than a few fans around the South, is currently between seasons—the seventh aired in the U.S. in early 2018, and the eighth is yet to be released. That’s why we were thrilled to hear there will be a special Call the Midwife holiday episode airing on Christmas Day 2018.

According to PBS, in the new holiday special you can “see what happens when a new nun and four Chinese orphans arrive unexpectedly at Nonnatus House, causing both joy and chaos for the midwives. Meanwhile, Mother Superior falls ill, and it’s time for a new spiritual leader to be elected.” Watch the preview below for a look at what’s to come in the series’ holiday episode.

For more on the episode, PBS has a synopsis: “The Christmas special will star Miriam Margoyles as Sister Mildred, who arrives unexpectedly at Nonnatus House, her hands full with four Chinese orphans. Having fled China, the child refugees were found abandoned in Hong Kong and are being adopted in the U.K. as part of the World Refugee Project. With Christmas preparations in full flow and the midwives busy caring for the expectant mothers of Poplar, these unexpected visitors cause joy and chaos in equal measure.”
