Californian Ski Resort Announces Planned Opening Day

Another day, another ski resort opening date announcement.

Earlier this week, on August 30th, Northstar, California, took to the airwaves to share that their planned opening date is November 17th.

See the announcement below.

From the caption:

"It's official, opening day is planned for November 17! Don't forget to buy your Epic Pass by September 4 before prices go up. With the Tahoe Local Pass, you get access to Northstar, Kirkwood, Heavenly, and more for just $587. Link in bio for details and to purchase your Pass!"

Northstar opened on November 12th last year, so the planned opening date on the 17th for this season isn't unusually early.

Although, as I've written several times before in similar articles, any resort opening date offered this early should be treated as a "planned" opening date, not a "guaranteed" opening date.

The ski resort business is notoriously fickle because, sadly, we can't predict what the weather will do this far in advance.

And that's okay. Opening date announcements in the fall remind us that should the weather cooperate, many of us will be skiing in only a few short months.

The impending arrival of winter means something else for Northstar, too. The resort is looking ahead to the end of its summer bike season, which, as of right now, will conclude on October 1st.

Following Monday, September 4th, the resort will shift its bike park opening days to a Thursday through Sunday schedule. The 4th will be the final bike park Monday of the summer season.
