A restaurant in Monterey, CA has a strict policy when it comes to children: If they're loud, they will be asked to leave. While the rule has been in place for years, recent photos posted to Yelp have caused restaurant-goers and parents to chime in with opinions.

The restaurant's owner, Chris Shake, told KTVU that the nearly-70-year-old restaurant is known for its quiet dining experience, which is obviously aided by the policy. "We have many families who dine with us with their children who are well behaved and understand our policy with respect to other diners," he said. Many of the negative Yelp reviews, he says, come from people who are offended by the sign, not people who have eaten at the restaurant.

But for some parents, the sign is a deterrent to come in altogether. In a Facebook group for Bay Area, CA moms, one woman wrote: "Whoa. I’ve never seen this before. I’m canceling my reservation at the restaurant after seeing this picture on Yelp." She took issue with the wording in particular, telling KTVU that "adults only" would have gotten the message across.

Others are on board with the idea, saying that a stroller-free, quiet atmosphere sounds nice. One user wrote, "I really don't understand why you parents don't just take your kids to McDonald's or Chuck-E-Cheese where they could scream all they want."

Regardless of public opinion, it doesn't seem Old Fisherman's Grotto will be changing its policies anytime soon.
