A California Radio Host Was Fired for Making Sexual Comments About 17-Year-Old Olympian Chloe Kim

Patrick Connor was fired from his radio job in San Francisco after making lewd comments about snowboarding gold medalist Chloe Kim including calling her a 'hot piece of ass' and saying the 'countdown is on' to her eighteenth birthday.

It was just a few days ago that 17-year-old Chloe Kim became a household name across the country after winning gold in the snowboarding halfpipe. Her tweets continue to be iconic. See: "I am my own Valentine." And her dad's a bona fide celebrity now too.

But with the good comes the…totally disgusting. For some reason Patrick Connor, a radio host in San Francisco thought it was appropriate to make lewd and sexual comments about Kim on Sirius XM's Barstool Sports network. "Her eighteenth birthday is April 23, and the countdown is on, baby," Connor said. "That's what I like about them high school girls." He went on to say, "She's fine as hell! If she was 18, you wouldn't be ashamed to say that she's a little hot piece of ass. And she is. She is adorable. I'm a huge Chloe Kim fan."

This is where the voice inside my head turns into the "Really? Really?" SNL segment Amy Poehler and Seth Meyers used to do on Weekend Update. First, you shouldn't talk about any woman like this. Ever. You're on a sports show, so why aren't you discussing the world-class athletic ability that Kim possesses? Second, she's a freaking teenager. A minor. Though Connor made the comments on a Barstool Sports show, his employers at KNBR in San Francisco confirmed that they had fired him but did not provide further comment to CNN.

Apparently Connor thought he was being funny, but I think we can all agree that overtly sexualizing a young woman is not a joke and should never be treated as such. He later apologized on Twitter saying, "Yesterday in a weird attempt to make people laugh I failed. My comments about @chloekimsnow were more than inappropriate they were lame & gross. Im [sic] truly sorry Chloe. You’ve repped our country so brilliantly. I apologize to my colleagues & the listeners for being a total idiot."

He further apologized on the Barstool Sports air: "I just want to quickly address my behavior yesterday. I'm super embarrassed. If I were to just slice up the pie chart of my comments they were, one slice was dumb, another slice was super insensitive and disrespectful. Kinda needy. It was pretty needy, and that's not a good look. And I've taken a pretty good beating and I effin' deserve it. Don't feel sorry for me."

We definitely don't.
