Calico Cat's Big Adventure with Pit Bull Siblings Makes Her 'One of the Pack'

Cats have a reputation of being unpredictable, stubborn, and downright chaotic, but the truth is that cats can be easygoing and chill, too. Every kitty is different, after all, but many felines are more outgoing than you think. Some cats, like this calico cat from Australia named Lewa, even love hanging out with their canine siblings!

Pit Bull siblings Mundu and Ambaii helped raise Lewa since the time she came home as a kitten, and now the three sisters go on all kinds of adventures together. On April 14, their loving owners took them to the most beautiful location by the river for a fun family outing, and feline explorer Lewa had no problem keeping up with her much bigger sisters. It looked like such a fun day!

If you ask me, this looks like every pet's dream come true. Dogs, especially, would love a trip with the entire pack to a secluded spot by the river, but it's nice to see an adventurous feline like Lewa enjoying the adventure, too. Besides, cats deserve to go on the same kinds of enriching adventures that dogs do!

"This is the real life Homeward Bound," commented viewer @sophia_nutt_. OMG--you're so right! Homeward Bound was certainly one of my go-to movies throughout childhood, and I know I'm not alone. Once, I even answered a trivia question about Homeward Bound at the county fair to win a stuffed animal! I'll never forget the fictional friendship between Sassy, the Himalayan cat, Chance, the American Bulldog, and Shadow, the wise senior Golden Retriever, just like I'll never forget the way Lewa and her doggie sisters love each other.

Raising an Adventurous Cat

Oftentimes, teaching a cat to be comfortable in all kinds of situations starts in their kittenhood. It certainly helped that  Pit Bull sisters Ambaii and Mundu were around when the cat was young, but nothing helps more than patience and time. Sometimes, cats will surprise you with their trust and sense of adventure!

"I wish more people realized how cool cats are," agreed commenter @yes_really_6_ft_4. "Mine will go paddle boarding with me and he loves it." How cool! Many cats learn to become comfortable around water over time, though a balanced paddleboarder will help a cat stay out of the water altogether. Then again, calico cat Lewa is the perfect proof that not all cats dislike water!

When bringing your indoor cat outside, it's always safer to use a leash and harness like this responsible family did. Cats still have predatory instincts, after all, and it takes a split second of intrusive thoughts to send a cat running away at full speed. By considering safety, taking baby steps, and remaining patient, you'll be setting yourself and your cat up for success.
