Cake of the Day: 'Year of the Sheep' Cake by Burrow Patisserie

Happy Chinese New Year! Today we bring you a cake in celebration of this year’s zodiac sign, the wise, gentle, compassionate sheep (according to some, anyway). This precious cake comes from Burrow Patisserie in Brooklyn, New York, where pastry chef and owner Ayako Kurokawa's keen eye for art—she's also an avid sculptor—translates to her desserts.
If you dare to take a bite (it’s almost too beautiful!), you’ll find that Kurokawa’s sheep cake tastes as good as it looks. That’s because it involves custard, fresh raspberries, and dacquoise, a cake made with layers of both almond meringue and buttercream.
So that sheep is wise, gentle, compassionate, and yummy! To order one, visit Burrow’s website, or swing by the adorable bakery if you happen to be in New York.
May the year bring you prosperity. And cake.
