Cake of the Day: White Almond Sour Cream Cake

This elegant cake belongs to New Orleans-born Brooke Conroy Bass of the food blog Chocolate + Marrow. This is not Bass’s first time being featured as our Cake of the Day – she made a colorful splash for Mardi Gras. Now she brings us a traditional New Orleans wedding cake: a white, light, and fluffy dessert with a buttercream that will blow you away with almond flavor.
Bass adds egg whites and sour cream in the batter to make it extra moist. For the flavor she infuses almond extract in both the buttercream and batter. Decorations are simple: a fresh spring flower sits on the light frosting. It’s an effortlessly beautiful and chic cake perfect for a wedding or any celebration.
