Caitlin Wilson Now Has a Kids Line and It's Too Cute to Handle

From House Beautiful

Have a budding designer on your hands? Or just looking to create a kid's room that doesn't scream, well, kids? You're in luck: Today, textile and interior designer Caitlin Wilson launches Cait Kids, a take on her popular cheerful, colorful designs created with smaller customers in mind.

"As a mother of four, I am always looking for beautiful products that are sweet and classic but have enough personality to feel fun for the kids," explains Wilson. "Our homes are the background of our children's earliest memories and I want to help families make those spaces special."

The line consists of wallpaper, accent pillows, and bedding. In addition to floral prints reminiscent of Wilson's existing textiles (which you can see in her own Dallas home), the designer has also incorporated several fun motifs that speak to different kids' interests—as well as her own experiences. The Game Day pattern, featuring football players in pastel colors, is a nod to Wilson's home state: "Living in Texas teaches you that football is not just a sport, it’s a way of life," she quips.

Meanwhile, the Horse & Jockey and Sailing patterns speak to Wilson's childhood. "I grew up with five horses and have always had a fascination with all things equestrian," she says. And "growing up in San Francisco, I spent quite a bit of time traveling at sea in my early twenties. I love the traditional take on a hand-drawn sailboat."

Though the patterns may evoke childhood memories, they're anything but childish–Wilson used a more sophisticated color palette and artful designs to ensure these motifs are ones kids won't quickly outgrow—and that can hold up to more mature design elements.

"I love the notion of a room growing with a child and have always myself been surrounded by traditional artwork," explains the designer. "I want my own children to grow up with timeless treasures and to be surrounded by curiosities that they’ll want to keep in their homes and pass down to their own children."
