This story contains spoilers for Season Four, Part One of Ozark.

If you like your TV shows heavily desaturated, mildly Jason Bateman, and a tiny bit polo shirt, then you probably made quick work of Ozark Season Four, Part One earlier this year. The most recent episodes of Netflix's Midwestern crime-and-drugs drama debuted in January, marking the first half of the series's final season. Honestly, considering that the most recent batch of episodes saw two major character deaths, a betrayal we didn't see coming, and a legendary Ruth Langmore freakout, we can't blame you for coming here to ask for more.

And now, as the final batch of episodes approaches, Jason Bateman is out and about dishing some extremely cryptic teasers about the series finale. In an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Bateman said, “Hopefully the audience will think, Ah, they’ve kind of threaded the needle between a happy ending—but they’re limping.” The rest of his comments have our collective anxiety spiking higher. “Should the Byrde family pay a bill? Like, should they get away with it? Should they not?” he asked. We don't know Jason, you tell us!

Well, if it's any consolation, we tried to make some sense of Ozark's future below. Here's everything we know about Ozark Season Four, Part Two, including its release date, plot details, relevant tidbits from interviews with the stars and creators, and more.

When is Ozark coming back for Season Four, Part Two?

According to an appropriately moody teaser from Netflix, Ozark will call it quits on April 29, 22. Mark your calendars, friends. Then take your bets on who lives and who dies.

Something You Should Watch Before the End

In mid-April, Netflix released a short, behind-the-scenes documentary, where Ozark's cast and crew talk about the past five years of filming the series. In the video, the likes of Sofia Hublitz and Skylar Gaertner, who play Charlotte and Jonah Byrde, respectively, say goodbye to the Byrde family's home. You might even see a surprise appearance or two in the mini-doc, as well. It's a must-watch for any and every Ozark die-hard heading into the series' final episodes. You can watch it below.

What will Ozark Season Four, Part Two be about?

Let's (briefly, we promise) relive the mildly traumatizing finale. After the FBI slightly walks back its deal with Omar Navarro, Agent Miller goes rogue and arrests him. Wendy and Marty Byrde convince an understandably crabby Omar to convince Javi to take the same deal he took with the FBI, which would get him extradited back to Mexico. After this, we see Javi drive straight to the Langmore-Snell residence, and promptly kill Wyatt and Darlene. Ruth drives to their house, sees the aftermath, and confronts the Byrdes.

Wouldn't you know it, our favorite rebellious child, Jonah, tells Ruth that Javi probably killed her cousin, which sends her storming away—likely on her way to find Javi. This, well, is confirmed by the first trailer for Part Two. Ruth shoots Javi. In the trailer. In the trailer! Aside from you know, the major death in the trailer, it seems like this season will be heavy on Ruth. We'll see Ruth try to cope with the death of her cousin, take care of baby Zeke, and try to, you know, maybe evade the wrath of the cartel after killing Javi?! Our money's on Ruth, every single time.

As for the Byrdes? Well, we would tell you that they'll somehow be in the middle of it all, wheeling and dealing like they have for four seasons. But we need to talk about the car crash of it all, which messes with any prediction you'd want to make. In the first scene of the very first episode of this season, we see the entire Byrde fam merrily driving on the highway. Life is good! Apparently. It seems like they're close to moving back to Chicago, with the Blue Cat and the casino in good shape. Then... the car crashes. We never see what happens to the Byrde clan, with Part One refusing to show if the family lived or died. Is this a Sopranos moment for the Byrdes, and we'll never actually learn what happens? We sure hope not. Our best guess is that we'll see the crash play out midway through Part Two, with, unfortunately, one of the Byrdes not making it out alive. The trailer doesn't tell us too much from the Byrdes front, only that Marty has a mean right hook, and that we'll likely see the next step of Wendy's play for political world domination.

There's one more puzzle piece left to place in all of this. What about the Navarro cartel? It seems like Ozark still has one character left to introduce: Javi's mother. In June 2021, The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Veronica Falcón would join the cast in a key role. Here's how THR described her part:

Falcón will play Camila, the sister of drug cartel leader Omar Navarro (Felix Solis) whose son “Javi Elizonndro” (Alfonso Herrera) is scheming to take over his uncle’s cartel. Camila quietly works behind the scenes to become a formidable player in her family’s drug empire.”

Now that we know Javi (most likely) dies—and that Omar is thrown in cartel jail—our best guess is that Camila learns of Javi's demise, and promptly punishes Omar. Will Camila sit on top of the throne at the end of it all? Your guess is as good as ours.
