If there’s one thing we’ll never be able to get enough of, it’s fast food secrets. And between following the president of the “Fast Food Secrets Club,” @jordan_the_stallion8, and former McDonald’s corporate chef @chefmikeharacz on TikTok, our “For You” page is filled with them.

In fact, that’s how we learned about McDonald’s secret menu McBrunch Burger that’s sold at 10:35 a.m.—and also how to save money at Mickey D’s by ordering a McDouble Big Mac instead of a traditional Big Mac.

We recently learned another money-saving hack regarding McDonald’s—but this time, it’s not one you can use at the drive-thru. It’ll actually save you the trip to the drive-thru altogether because you can buy copycat McDonald’s chicken nuggets at the grocery store.

Where to Buy Copycat McDonald's Chicken Nuggets

“If you want the chicken nugget experience from home, that is probably a bit cheaper, look for Pilgrim’s brand tempura chicken nuggets,” says Mike Haracz, a former McDonald’s corporate chef, in a TikTok video.

There you have it, folks; if you want something as good as the Chicken McNugget but from the comfort of your own kitchen, look for the Pilgrim’s brand. Haracz says the knockoff chicken nuggets are sold at Walmart, which is true, but you have to know what to look for.

The Tempura-Style Chicken Breast Nuggets that Haracz is referring to are made by the brand Pilgrim’s Pride, which is owned by the larger Pilgrim’s corporation. These chicken nuggets seem to be available at Kroger-owned stores, like Kroger and Fred Meyer, plus H-E-B stores.

But Pilgrim’s owns another brand, Country Pride, that sells its Tempura Raw Chicken Breast Nuggets at Walmart stores—in addition to Kroger-owned stores. Haracz says these two products are virtually the same—so if you see either of them, you’ve struck McNugget gold.

The most important thing to remember to look for is the “tempura-style” nuggets, not the regular nuggets that the Pilgrim’s brands sell. Once you have the true copycat, you’ll just have to find your own Mickey D’s dipping sauce—hopefully, you’ve got some stashed in the glove box somewhere.

Interestingly enough, Pilgrim’s also owns Just Bare, which is the company that’s gone viral for selling copycat Chick-fil-A chicken nuggets.

So, when in doubt for a fast food copycat, just look for Pilgrim’s, apparently.
