The term coastal grandmother may have had its moment in the sun, but the facts are the facts: the pieces that make up the look are classics. But the most essential piece to nailing that Nancy Meyers fantasy is a crisp oversized white button-up, and for me, there is none better than the Frank & Eileen Shirley Oversized Button-Up.

A few years back I got myself a classic linen button-up from the brand, and I haven't looked back, so naturally when I saw they had a new oversized style, I knew it was for me. Often, I buy men's styles in larger sizes to nail the look, but having a piece that is tailored for a woman just hits different. Literally. I wear a size XS and it's not overly boxy, but still roomy. It cuts off mid thigh, so I can wear it with jeans for an elegant yet unfussy look, or I can wear it alone over a one piece as the perfect coverup. Seriously, packing this piece on a trip is essential. Wear it to dinner, wear it to the pool, it works with everything you pair it with.

Some other elements that I absolutely love are both the buttons, which are placed strategically to avoid the dreaded pulling and gapping you can sometimes get with a button-up, and, the shoulders, which are sloped; a very small detail that makes this shirt a little more feminine. Also, the poplin is crisp and bright—but it's not too see-through.

I love this wardrobe workhorse so much that I've taken to wearing it more than once a week. My favorite way to style it is with a pair of cropped leggings, ballet flats and a pair of oversized shades. Think: Holly Golightly on-the-go. With so many ways to wear one shirt, it could easily be your most worn piece of the summer.
