We know Burger King to be one of the more innovative players in the fast food industry, inventing everything from chicken fries to an 'all cheese' burger, but the chain’s latest menu addition is making us do a double take. Why? Because the breakfast sandwich looks different from anything we’ve seen from a drive-thru before—right down to the grill marks.

Burger King Introduces New Breakfast Grill’wich Sandwiches

Burger King isn’t just flame-grilling its burgers anymore—it’s also grilling its breakfast sandwiches. The chain just introduced a new line of Grill’wich breakfast sandwiches to be exclusively tested in two markets in Texas and Michigan.

The first-of-its-kind flatbread offers everything you want in an early morning meal: fluffy eggs, melty cheese, and hearty meats. They’re the same flavorful fillings that come with the popular Croissant’wich, but on—you guessed it—a flame-grilled flatbread bun.

Here’s the official line-up of the Grill’wich options:

  • Grill’wich with Ham: A flame-grilled flatbread with fluffy eggs, melted American cheese, and Black Forest Ham.

  • Grill’wich with Sausage: A flame-grilled flatbread with fluffy eggs, melted American cheese, and sausage.

  • Grill’wich with Bacon: A flame-grilled flatbread with fluffy eggs, melted American cheese, and bacon.

So, how can you try them? The breakfast griller is being offered as one of the chain’s Mix N’ Match meal options, where customers can pair two qualifying menu items for $4 or $5. Other items on this bundle menu include French toast sticks and the standard BK breakfast sandwich. Burger King’s breakfast is served daily from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Right now, the hot new menu innovation is only being tested in Detroit, Mich. and McAllen-Brownsville, Texas, for a limited time while supplies last, according to the Detroit Free Press. But, hopefully, after receiving positive consumer feedback, the flame-grilled sandwich will make it to nationwide menus soon.
