June 1, 1954, America had its first taste of the now "iconic flame-grilled Whopper® sandwich." Today, to celebrate the 68th birthday of this behemoth burger brand now known around the world, Burger King is debuting a brand-new limited-edition birthday crown at participating restaurants nationwide. The folks at Burger King are also marking this anniversary with a brand-new, limited edition birthday crown. They turned to Brazilian born, Miami-based artist Romero Britto to put his signature colorful style on those iconic birthday crowns.

"Some of my first memories of moving to the United States include going to Burger King and getting a Whopper and a crown. It was the only restaurant I frequented – in fact, my first date with my wife was at a Burger King – so this collaboration felt like a natural fit," Britto said in a statement. He added, "Having the opportunity to redesign the iconic BK crown is such an honor and having been a fan of the brand for so long this partnership brings it all full circle."
