Bulgari Is Celebrating Creativity with Its Save the Children Initiative
In the spirit of the holiday season, Bulgari has once again partnered with Save the Children, an organization it’s worked with for 10 years, and for which it has raised more than $100 million.
This year’s holiday initiative started on World Children’s Day on November 20 and was led by Tamu McPherson, a digital creator and Corporate Social Responsibility Ambassador for Bulgari. McPherson worked with local art consultants in California and Texas to engage more than 1,200 children in a “World of Wonder” art project where they were asked to use watercolor to express what “World of Wonder” means to them on canvas.
Participating children were enrolled in the Arte di Bvlgari program, hosted in school districts in Fresno and San Bernardino Counties in California, and Harris County in Texas. Arte di Bvlgari gives children without access to an arts education the opportunity to express themselves in a variety of forms, from dance to sculpture to painting. Running in conjunction with Save the Children’s existing literacy and math enrichment after-school programs, Arte di Bvlgari also engages local artists in the children’s community.
More than 80 of the paintings created for the art project were then integrated into four digital art collages by artist Helena Soubeyr, and later displayed at Bulgari’s San Francisco boutique. Owning a Bulgari piece is much like owning a piece of wearable art, so the brand’s focus on encouraging and celebrating children in the creation of art feels like a natural fit.
“Creativity is important for children because it opens their minds and hearts, allowing them to use the imagination to create scenarios that bring positivity into their worlds,” McPherson said in a statement. “Working on this project alongside the students was super inspiring and it was an absolute joy to be in such a positive, caring, warm environment. The students’ unique visions of the world will make this project even more special than we ever imagined.”
In the same statement, Herve Perrot, president of Bulgari North America, added, “The arts are a key pillar of Bulgari’s identity, so supporting the arts through childhood education is a mission that is dear to the maison. Having raised more than $100 million to benefit more than 2 million children around the world, we look forward to continuing our efforts to create positive social change with at-risk youth and communities through our partnership with Save the Children.”
For those wanting to support both the maison and the cause, Bulgari has recently launched its newest Save the Children jewelry collection featuring a one-band silver sterling ring and bracelet, plus two necklaces: one with black ceramic and a special 10th-anniversary necklace in sterling silver with a pendant set with onyx and ruby. Bulgari will donate a portion of the proceeds from each sale to programs that provide support to more than 2.2 million children through education and enrichment, emergency response, youth empowerment, and poverty reduction programs.
Without a doubt, the easiest way to carry on the spirit of the Bulgari x Save the Children “World of Wonder” initiative is by simply encouraging the creation of art wherever you see it.
