Building Blocks Learning Center opens new location

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Some local parents have a new childcare option that does more than just watch your children, it allows kids to experience things a traditional daycare does not offer.

They currently have 52 students enrolled and room for plenty more.

A fun new way to learn has just made its way to the heart of the Diamond City. Building Blocks Learning Center opened its 15th Luzerne County location in downtown Wilkes-Barre.

“We have care from infants to pre-k6 weeks to five years old. We have a play-first environment. Our children are safe, nurtured, and learning through play with their teachers every day,” says Elizabeth Foss the chief of staff at the Building Blocks Learning Center.

Along with a ribbon cutting, they also had a block party on South Main Street where kids got to enjoy face painting, a petting zoo, and more.

“I was seeing the petting zoo,” said Aubrinna Holmes of Wilkes-Barre.

What else did you get to do? Were you doing anything with these blocks?, asked 28/22 News.

“Write my name on it and color it,” answered Holmes.

Another kid says his favorite part of the afternoon was two things.

“Face paint and we will play with bobbles, we made bobbles and we got to walk around and we got to paint blocks,” added Emmanuel Ajayi from Wilkes-Barre.

“My favorite part was face painting and painting blocks and my brother won the race,” continued Winner Ajayi from Wilkes-Barre.

One mom of four says she is considering bringing her kids here because the site offers more than traditional daycare.

“They don’t wait for the kids to grow up before they start teaching them arts teaching them how to wash their hands after they eat and after they play you know the sink is right there in the middle of the class the counter everything they need is right there in the class,” explained Femi Ebli from Wilkes-Barre.

Some elected officials were also in attendance.

“We hope that they get you know a greater understanding of everything that our city really does have to offer everyone there are so many events for the family so many things going on to have opportunities for them to get out of the house with their kids on the weekend to do something fun on those weekends when parents are home with their kids just have a great time as a family,” stated Foss.

Building Blocks Learning Center also offers scholarship opportunities.
