From Best Products

For gamers in search of an excellent midrange headset that won't break the bank, we recommend the Creative Sound BlasterX H6. It offers a comfortable, casual design, great build quality, and powerful audio.

So far, we’ve tested a handful of budget-friendly headsets from brands like Razer, SteelSeries, and Logitech, but we think this option from Creative hits that sweet spot between price and performance.

Comfort

The headset is equipped with well-cushioned foam earcups in addition to a detachable microphone, making it equally cozy and convenient. The headset feels solid and sturdy, but at just 11 ounces isn't too hefty or uncomfortable.

Design

The headset sports an all-black understated look that's a lot less loud than the brightly colored headsets from Razer and Turtle Beach. Plus, its adjustable stainless steel headband is protected by a synthetic-leather shell, which gives it a polished and premium look.

Similarly to the SteelSeries Arctis 5, and the Cooler Master MH650 this one also features a customizable RGB ring around each ear cup.

The H6 can be plugged into a PC over USB, but it also comes with a 3.5-millimeter audio cable for using with your game console. We appreciate its easily accessible volume rocker and mute microphone buttons on the left side. There's even an EQ selection button to cycle through pre-programmed profiles that offer the ideal audio settings for specific uses, such as movies, music, or gaming.

Sound

We're happy to report that this Creative headset sounds just as good as it looks. During our tests it became evident that the bass and high-end bands all took precedence over midrange and low-midrange sounds. We found bass to be incredibly punchy, especially when rocking out to the intense Doom soundtrack when gaming on the Xbox One. The headset still offers incredible depth thanks to its large 50-millimeter drivers and surround-sound support.

Wrap-Up

Although its microphone isn't as impressive as those found on other headsets, it does effectively block out background noise. We think given its superior comfort, design, and sound quality, the Creative Sound BlasterX H6 gives much pricier headsets a run for their money.
