Buddy Valastro Showed the Huge Cake He Made for the Hospital That Treated Him Following His Injury

From Good Housekeeping

Cake Boss star Buddy Valastro shared photos of a special cake he made for the medical personnel who treated him following an accident last fall that left his right hand severely injured.

Buddy shared an Instagram post thanking Dr. Michelle Carlson, nurses, and staff at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, and showing off the "super special cake" he made for them as "a token of [his] immense appreciation." The post began with a photo of himself and Dr. Carlson, posing together as he holds up his hand and from there we see a few screenshots of the over-the-top cake.

The creation is massive and made to look like the hospital's headquarters. At the base are cakes resembling a doctor's coat and scrubs, and at the top of cake appears to be a small cake that reads "HSS" with a hand sticking out of it: "I could never thank them enough for all they have done to help me on this journey to a full recovery," he says in the post.

In a post by the hospital, you can see the full cake a bit more clearly, and see the hand is giving a thumbs up.

Buddy suffered a severe injury to his dominant right hand following a freak accident at his home bowling alley in September. He's since documented his road to recovery on Instagram, as well as in a new "Road to Recovery" special that aired on TLC over the holidays. At the time of the filming, he revealed he had only regained about 15 percent of his strength in his hand back.
