On the evening after her funeral, Buckingham Palace shared one last picture of Queen Elizabeth, showing the late monarch at Balmoral Castle.

"May flights of Angels sing thee to thy rest," the royal family's social media channels wrote, quoting Shakespeare's Hamlet. In Act 5 Scene 2 of Hamlet, Horatio holds Hamlet as he dies, and says, "Now cracks a noble heart. Good night, sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."

It was the same line King Charles used at the end of his first speech as monarch, when he said, "And to my darling Mama, as you begin your last great journey to join my dear late Papa, I want simply to say this: thank you. Thank you for your love and devotion to our family and to the family of nations you have served so diligently all these years. May 'flights of Angels sing thee to thy rest'.."

The photo shores Queen Elizabeth in her element at Balmoral, her beloved Scottish retreat. Balmoral was where she passed away on September 8, and her granddaughter Princess Eugenie once said, "I think Granny is the most happy there. I think she really, really loves the Highlands."

"Walks, picnics, dogs—a lot of dogs, there’s always dogs—and people coming in and out all the time," Eugenie added. "It’s a lovely base for Granny and Grandpa, for us to come and see them up there, where you just have room to breathe and run."

In a private service yesterday evening, Queen Elizabeth was laid to rest with her late husband, Prince Philip, alongside her parents, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, and her sister, Princess Margaret.
