Princess Beatrice is expecting a baby due in the fall, Buckingham Palace announced this morning. In a statement released at 10 a.m. in the UK, the palace said that both families were "delighted" with the news.

The short announcement read, "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in autumn of this year. The Queen has been informed and both families are delighted with the news."

The baby will be the Queen's 12th great grandchild as he or she is due after Harry and Meghan's second child, who is expected this summer. They will also be a cousin to Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's son August who was born in February. August was born in the central London Portland hospital which is where Sarah, Duchess of York also gave birth to Beatrice and Eugenie.

Beatrice and Edoardo were married on July 17 last year in an intimate ceremony in the All Saints Chapel in Windsor Great Park. His then four-year-old son Christopher Woolf, known as "Wolfie," from a previous relationship with architect and designer Dara Huang, was his best man and page boy. Their wedding was originally planned for last May but had to be rescheduled due to coronavirus restrictions, and the new date was not announced in advance.

"We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to be married," the happy couple said in a statement when they got engaged. "We share so many similar interests and values and we know this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness."
