Buc-ee's Bathrooms Ranked Cleanest in the Nation for Second Year Running
Highway pitstops are unavoidable. But the next time you find yourself in need of a restroom on the road, you better hope there’s a Buc-ee’s nearby.
For the second year in a row, the Texas-based institution has the highest-rated gas station restrooms in the nation, proving once again that it’s so much more than Beaver Nuggets and jerky.
Buc-ee’s flushed the competition in a survey of the nation’s gas station restrooms conducted by GasBuddy, though the race for the nation’s cleanest highway bathrooms is heating up. According to GasBuddy ratings and reviews data, gas station restroom cleanliness ratings have improved 6% overall since 2017.
“The reputation of gas station restrooms has cleaned up significantly in the past three years, with brands making concentrated efforts to make their facilities sparkle” Frank Beard, convenience store and retail trends analyst at GasBuddy, said in a news release.
Other cleanliness standouts include Utah-based Maverik, Wawa, QuikTrip, Irving, Kwik Trip, Sheetz, and Sinclair.

Buc-ee’s currently has 34 locations in Texas and one in Robertsdale, Alabama, which opened to plenty of fanfare earlier this year. Florida-based fans of the smiling beaver will be thrilled to learn that the chain is reportedly opening its second location outside of Texas this summer in Daytona Beach. Other Buc-ee’s superlatives include operation of the largest convenience store in the world, a sprawling 68,000-square-foot roadside attraction in New Braunfels, Texas.
