  • BTS was nominated for 4 awards at the 2019 Teen Choice Awards.

  • The boy band didn't attend the award show in Hermosa Beach, CA.

  • This comes just after the group announced that they were taking an "official and extended period of rest and relaxation."

Though BTS was definitely missed by fans at the TCAs Sunday night, the boy band has a really good reason. Earlier today, the K-pop group's management company, Big Hit Entertainment, announced on Twitter that boys were taking an "official and extended period of rest and relaxation."

In a statement released in both English and Korean, the company announced that the boy band is taking time off to "rest and recharge in their personal ways." BTS members, RM, Jimin, Jungkook, J-Hope, Suga, V, and Jin, have been working nonstop since their debut back in 2013.

The statement also revealed that the boys will take this time to "enjoy the ordinary lives of young people in their 20s," and asked fans to respect their privacy, should they run into them during their hiatus.

While Big Hit didn't reveal when the K-pop group would be back, they did confirm that their performance at the Lotte Duty Free Family Concert in Korea on August 11 was their last scheduled one before their well-deserved vacay.

BTS was nominated for four TCAs, including Choice International Artist, Choice Fandom, Choice Collaboration for "Boy With Luv," and Choice Summer Tour. The group secured two Teen Choice wins last year, and one the year before, so this definitely doesn't come as a surprise.

Though we'll miss the boys dearly, we can all agree that they totally deserve to enjoy their time off!
