BTS Performs at Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest

“With this choreo alone they already won 2020.”

2020 is already off to a great start for ARMYs who got to see BTS perform during Times Square’s iconic New Year’s Eve celebration.

The K-pop group took the stage around 10:40 p.m. during Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest on December 31, where they wowed fans in person and at home with performances of “Make It Right” and “Boy With Luv.” As always, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, V, Jimin, and Jungkook brought their style A-game; the group donned coordinating black and white outfits, some a bit more sparkly than others (and who knew a jacket could duo as a hoodie!). With sharp choreography, stellar vocals, and a grand finale that included a storm of purple confetti, BTS undoubtedly slayed their NYE performance — as any ARMY member would expect.

For the fans who gathered outside in New York City hours before the performance, braving the cold was well worth it. “[BTS] has helped so many of us,” one ARMY member told the Associated Press while awaiting the K-pop group’s arrival. “We know that we’re loved by them, so we have to show it back to them. We have to let them know that they’re loved, and that they’re amazing and talented and worth every single second of our time.”

And from the social media reaction, it’s clear that there is a ton of love. “I'm proud of you guys,” one fan wrote on Twitter, calling BTS’s performance “amazing.” Another weighed in to say: “With this choreo alone they already won 2020.... Damn.”

But perhaps the truest indicator of ARMY passion comes from the fact that the fans who were there for the performance IRL chanted so loudly that those watching at home could hear them, too. “Imagine how many people were chanting it for it to be so CLEAR,” one fan noted, adding: “This is a city block folks!” Yep, ARMYs really did that.

Later in the evening, the official BTS Twitter account shared a video of the boys watching the Times Square ball drop where they officially rung in 2020 in style. Happy New Year, BTS and ARMYs everywhere! Here’s to even more amazing music in 2020.
