BTS Performs "Boy With Luv" and "Mic Drop" on "Saturday Night Live"

And the ARMY just got some new recruits.

It finally happened: BTS made their Saturday Night Live debut, and their performance was just as epic as you'd expect it to be.

The K-pop group graced the SNL stage for the very first time on Saturday, April 13, just one day after releasing their brand-new EP, Map of the Soul: Persona. While visiting the comedy show, whose Saturday episode was hosted by Emma Stone, BTS performed their brand-new hit song "Boy With Luv" featuring Halsey. (Halsey did not make an appearance, as she's currently across the country at Coachella.) Always the fashion icons, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook were clad in classic black suits, accentuating their individual personalities through their colorful hairstyles — not unlike their memorable look at the 2019 Grammys.

Later in the episode, BTS performed "Mic Drop," complete with all of the mesmerizing group choreography you'd expect from the popular K-pop group, this time changing up their outfits to an array of different colors.

Needless to say, the ARMY did not hold back on social media when it came to reacting to their crowd-pleasing performances. (Some fans were even lucky enough to see them IRL — after reportedly lining up for days outside of 30 Rock to score SNL tickets, that is.) Among the excited tweets that we've come to expect from the fanbase, some members of the ARMY chose to share messages from "locals" — AKA people that are new to BTS, stumbling upon the group for the first time on SNL.

"The whole #SNL TAG IS BASICALLY LOCALS APPRECIATING AND BEING WHIPPED W BTS," one fan wrote, encouraging ARMY members to use #BTSxSNL instead. But the tweets from the "locals" are kiiind of endearing; with comments like "BTS is for real" and "I've never heard BTS before and...I can't look away," it's clear that many people are discovering what the rest of us have known for quite some time: BTS slays so hard, we need a whole new word for slay.

In addition to their SNL debut, BTS has had a lot to celebrate lately. Their "Boy With Luv" music video recently broke YouTube's record for most views within 24 hours (!!!), and they made their first appearance at the Grammy Awards earlier this year. Now, all we need is for the K-pop group to show up at this year's Met Gala...and knowing how much BTS likes surprises, we wouldn't put it past them.
