BTS Fans Think Suga Might Drop a New Agust D Album Soon

Agust D is BTS member Suga's solo moniker.

BTS fans are notoriously good at deciphering and predicting both group comebacks and solo releases from quasi non-existent clues — and they could have cracked the next case: Agust D’s second solo mixtape.

Suga is perhaps best known by his BTS moniker, but his real name is Min Yoongi, and he also records under the name Agust D — an anagram combining his BTS persona and a reference to his hometown of Daegu — on his solo projects. To date, Agust D’s only official release is a ten-track, self-titled EP which came out in August 2016, but fans have found a very convincing reason to believe that could be changing very soon.

On November 11, fans noticed the official bio for Agust D had been updated on Spotify. While the new bio, which was “Posted by Agust D,” did not reveal any details about a potential release, fans believe the mere fact that is was amended in the first place could mean something big is coming.

“AGUST D BIO ON SPOTIFY HAS BEEN UPDATED YALL KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS RIGHT???? AGUST D2 IS F*CKING COMING,” a fan commented after seeing the bio change. “Wait what do y’all mean agust d’s spotify bio has been updated.... that’s the only hint we need agust d is coming this month,” another one added.

By now we should know that nothing the BTS members and their parent company, Big Hit Entertainment, do is unintentional, but it’s good to note solo releases are not entirely managed by Big Hit. “Big Hit doesn’t produce solo projects,” Bang Si-Hyuk told TIME earlier this year. “We emphasize the team image. But of course the members are individuals, and have their own identities, so we encourage and support mixtapes and free release songs, which allow the artist to express themselves with less liability than an official solo project.”

Yoongi’s first mixtape was entirely self-produced and distributed for free. The project dropped a couple of weeks after it was first announced. It was later reissued as an eight-track EP and added to streaming platforms in 2018. Though there’s no official confirmation yet, fans have been anticipating a follow-up project from August D for quite some time now — especially after it was alluded to during a segment of BTS’s recent Bring The Soul documentary.

When it comes to solo projects, the BTS members tend to favor the element of surprise though. Both V and Jimin released their solo songs “Winter Bear” and “Promise”, respectively, without prior confirmation. J-Hope and Becky G’s “Chicken Noodle Soup,” in turn, came a only mere 24 hours after it was confirmed. All these releases came in during some type of small vacation break.

BTS is currently promoting the upcoming fourth season of their reality travel series, Bon Voyage, which finds the septet in New Zealand and will premiere on the Weverse app on November 19. In a recent interview with iHeartRadio, BTS’s leader RM noted the group’s “biggest event until 2019 ends” would be L.A’s Jingle Ball on December 6.

That certainly leaves a tiny window where August D 2 could potentially drop. Of course, this is all speculation so take everything with a grain of salt but, Yoongi, if you’re reading this: just gi-give it to us.
