BTS Appeared on "The Graham Norton Show" and Discussed the Meaning of Their Music

"We should find the way to love ourselves."

BTS fans have been quick to try and decipher every meaning behind the K-Pop group's many songs. While ARMY members have been eager to share their theories regarding the record-breaking release of Love Yourself:Answer, the members of the band just shed some light on the album's title.

During a recent interview on The Graham Norton Show, BTS was asked what the title of the album signifies. As Billboard pointed out, RM provided the answer, explaining that there's a theme of self-love contained throughout their music. "Life always has the dilemmas, and we have to have the pain inside because when the light comes, we always have shadows and we cannot avoid that," he said. "So, I just wanted to tell that we should find the way to love ourselves. Especially the youth, we can be more happy and we can live a good life."

Members of the audience were quick to cheer on the group for sharing this message, but it appears as if BTS may have gained another fan during the taping. Whoopi Goldberg was so impressed by their support for self-love that she stood up and offered the members a jacket she designed. "Thank you for all of the joy you're bringing," she told BTS.

Unfortunately, BTS member Jimin was unable to attend the taping. Just days after Jungkook was injured during a pre-show warmup and Jimin suffered a separate injury. As Billboard reports, Jimin had experienced pain in his neck and made the decision to rest that day.

The talk show appearance was just the latest instance of the group publicly speaking out about the importance of loving yourself. Last month, BTS became the first K-Pop act to ever address the United Nations. During the address, RM touched on the practice of self-love and self acceptance, saying, "We have learned to love ourselves, so I urge you to speak yourself. I like to ask all of you 'What is your name? What excites you and make your heart beat? Tell me your story.' I want to hear your voice. I want to hear your conviction. No matter who you are, where you're from, your skin color, your gender identity, just speak yourself. Find your name and find your voice by speaking yourself."
