Brutal comments on mom’s reel about equitable partnership prove how *inequitable* most marriages are

Being a dad in 2024 looks a lot different than it did even a generation ago. Many fathers are more involved in their childrens’ lives and take on household roles that previous generations would stereotypically consider women’s tasks. There’s a shift happening, but not all men have caught on to modern fatherhood, and Instagrammer @shesapaigeturner unintentionally proved that point through the nasty comments men left on a reel she shared about equitable partnership.

The mom of four actually began her video by acknowledging “these are some things that happen in my home that are apparently controversial.” (Spoiler alert: They’re not.)

She goes on to list the tasks her husband generally takes on, which includes doing all the grocery shopping and cooking most of the dinners throughout the week for their kids (because he knows what they like); bath and bedtime routine (because she does mornings by herself); restocking household goods; helping with school work; and giving the kids vitamins. Paige also mentions things her husband helps her do, like sort through their childrens’ seasonal clothes, and says he’s “well equipped” to do school drop offs and pick up, and keep the house clean and organized, if she goes out of town (which presumably means she takes on these things when she’s home).

“He knows what they like because he’s a part of their life,” she says. “These are all things that happen in our home because we strive to have an equitable partnership. We both work full-time, we have four kids, and we are really busy.”

Angry men flooded the comments with nasty words like, “So what do u do?? Sounds like he does everything” and, “So what the hell does she do ? Kick back and nag,” but women (probably moms) put them in their places.

“Do you really think that just those things she listed are enough to make a household function?” one replier asked. “It sounds like she handles making breakfasts, packing lunches, getting the kids to school, laundry, cleaning, taking kids to activities, managing doctors appointments, etc. I’m guessing that you’re not married with kids.”

“it’s hilarious because if she said she does all this you wouldn’t bat an eye because that’s [her] job right? But because she said her husband does it… You’re triggered,” wrote another.

In a separate comment, a follower asked what we’re all thinking: “Does he have friends, brothers, cousins that are also not horrible man babies that use women?! Asking for all of us.”
