She may hail from Rio de Janeiro, but actress Bruna Marquezine is far from your typical beachbound Brazilian bombshell. The 23-year-old April Vogue cover star is a verified industry veteran, with 15 years worth of film and television roles to her credit. (Marquezine’s acting debut came in 2003, with the Brazilian telenovela Mulheres Apaixonadas, and she’s been a fixture on the scene ever since.)
Suffice it to say that she has the red carpet thing pretty well nailed down by now, but far be it from Marquezine to stick to a uniform. With mile-long legs and a swishy, shoulder-grazing bob, she hops from mod-inspired Miu Miu to sultry Jacquemus, sem problemas. (Her stylist, Rita Lazzarotti, also works with Taís Araújo.) In a column gown with a chiffon cape—such as the one that she wore to the 2017 Venice Film Festival, by Alberta Ferretti—Marquezine is a dream; but a sweetheart neckline and slit at the hip suit her just fine, too. See, for instance, the sultry champagne number that she donned in Venice the following year.
Let loose on the streets of Rio, Marquezine’s style is similarly bold: Among her looks for Carnival this month were a glittering bodysuit with barely-there cut-offs, and a crop top with a silvery skirt (and faux-pixie hairdo). Her star is quickly on the rise abroad, but as shots of her dancing through the night attest, Marquezine is still just a girl from Brazil.
