  • Actor Bruce Willis has largely retreated from public life after his frontotemporal dementia diagnosis.

  • Fans have gotten updates on the star spending quality time with his family via his wife, Emma Heming Willis's social media.

  • Emma recently showcased a heart-shaped rock her youngest daughter Evelyn Penn gave to Bruce.

Earlier this year, the family of movie star Bruce Willis publicly revealed that the actor had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. They had previously gone public with his struggles with aphasia, the reveal of which caused many to rethink how they'd assessed the star's recent career.

Where before, his recent spate of direct-to-video action films earned scorn and mockery from the critical community, including the Razzies (an awards show for the "worst movies"), when it became clear that Willis was taking what work he could, while he still could, public sentiment shifted. The Razzies notably even revoked their mean-spirited "nominations" for the actor in the aftermath of the revelation.

Now, Willis has stepped back from public life, focusing on spending quality time with his family. Instead of magazine profiles and paparazzi photos, the life of the Moonlighting star is now chronicled on the Instagram of his wife, Emma Heming Willis.

It's through Emma's recent social media post that we know about a sweet and simple gift Bruce received from his youngest daughter, Evelyn Penn. Hello Magazine took note of a recent post from Emma that showcased a quiet weekend for the family: "Per her posts on both her feed and on Instagram Stories, their days were filled with bike rides surrounded by scenic mountain views, strolls by the river, and scrounging for rocks."

One heart-shaped rock reportedly caught young Evelyn's eye, and Emma documented the discovery. "On our walk to the river, Evelyn found the perfect rock for her Dad that she knew he'd appreciate," Emma wrote in her Instagram story. "She knows him well."

Fans began to express appreciation for the gesture and Emma's broader efforts to comfort her spouse and family. "Cherish today! From one spouse caregiver to another! You are doing a great job!" one commenter wrote. Another said, "Looks like a great day with the gals! Love to the fam, and hope Bruce is in good spirits."
