Brown County's 3 campground to open Thursday. Here is what you need to know.

GREEN BAY - The campgrounds in Brown County are opening back up for the season this week, according to the Parks Department.

The three campgrounds will be open Thursday. Here's what you need to know about reservations, locations, and amenities. Typically, campgrounds are open until October with weather permitting.

Where are the campgrounds?

There are three campgrounds in the Brown County area that offer over 200 campsites.

  • Brown County Reforestation Camp: 4418 Reforestation Road, Suamico.  The 51-site Reforestation Camp campground is next to the NEW Zoo and Adventure Park. There are bike and horse trails nearby, RV dump stations, showers and restrooms, and playgrounds. Costs: Rustic and tent sites, $22 a night; water and electric sites, $32 a night; full hookups, $40 a night; group camp, $50 a night.

  • Brown County Bay Shore: 5637 Sturgeon Bay Road, town of Green Bay. The Bay Shore campground is the most popular campground in the area and sits on the Niagara Escarpment. with 107 wooded campsites. Pets are allowed on leashes, and amenities include a boat launch, firewood, hiking and biking trails, and a playground. Costs: Water and electric sites, $32 a night; rustic sites, $22 a night; group camp, $50 a night.

  • Brown County Fairgrounds: 1500 Fort Howard Ave., De Pere. The fairgrounds camping site is the best option for anyone looking for urban camping or traveling in a large RV unit. It's close to Lambeau Field and downtown Green Bay with 46 campsites, a boat launch, and free WiFi. Costs: All sites, $32 a night.

Are reservations required?

Most campsites need reservations.

  • All sites in the Reforestation Camp campground require reservations.

  • Most sites at the Bay Shore campgrounds require an online reservation. Select sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • All sites at the Fairgrounds campgrounds are first-come, first-served because regular events on the property cause the campground to close.
