The Brown County Fair began Wednesday. Here's what to know if you go.

County fairs are a way for families and youth to show off their work from the past year – be it a hand-crafted item or food, or perhaps animals they have raised – and the Brown County Fair is no exception.

This year's fair is scheduled to run Aug. 16 to 20 at the county fairgrounds, 1500 Fort Howard Ave., De Pere.

With live music, entertainment, exhibits, competitions and more, there's sure to be something for your whole family to enjoy. Here are a few things to know if you decide to attend.

Admission

Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the gate. Sunday-only admission is $10.

Purchase advance tickets at Festival Foods Stores, Green Bay And west De Pere; Stone Ridge Piggly Wiggly, De Pere; Piggly Wiggly, Howard; Super Ron’s Food Center, Pulaski; Cornette Farm Supply/Vita Plus, Greenleaf; C-mart, Denmark, Scray Cheese and D & G Restaurant, Greenleaf.

Presale weekly wristbands can be purchased for $55. Buy at the gate or office noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 12 and 13 or all day at the fair Aug. 16.

There will be no online sales.

Nick’s Kids Show

  • Aug. 16: 2 and 4 p.m.

  • Aug. 17 and 18: 11:30 a.m., 2 and 4 p.m.

  • Aug. 19: 11:30 a.m.; 2, 4 and 6 p.m.

  • Aug. 20: 11 a.m., 2 and 4 p.m.

Miller and Mike

  • Aug. 17 and 19: 12:30, 3, 5:30 p.m.

Demolition derby:

  • Aug. 20: Horse pull, 11 a.m.

Music

Local acts will provide entertainment on the Midway stage, including:

  • Aug. 16: The Bogsurfers, 5:30-8:30 p.m.

  • Aug. 17: Glam Band, 7:30-10:30 p.m.

  • Aug. 18: Charmless Few, 3-6 p.m.; American Platinum, 8:30-11 p.m.

  • Aug. 19: Petty Cash, 4-6:30 p.m.; Jordan Blanchard, 8:30-11 p.m.

  • Aug. 20: Cougars, 2-5 p.m.

Exhibitors

Adults and youth alike will be judged on their fair entries. Brown county residents will present animals, flowers and plants, baking, woodworking, knitting, photography and more.

Other events associated with the exhibits include a youth livestock and dairy auction on Aug. 19 and a horse Gymkhana on Aug. 20.
