Michelle Yeoh's career has spanned decades and continents, but in the aftermath of her Oscar-nominated performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once, she's had her pick of projects that show off her range as a dramatic and comedic performer—not to mention a martial arts badass.

The most recent is The Brothers Sun, a tale of two chalk-and-cheese siblings: Charles is a cold-blooded assassin in his father's criminal operation, and Bruce is an aimless slacker, unaware that he's been raised in hiding in Los Angeles by Yeoh's Mama Sun, in an attempt to protect him.

When the entire Sun family comes under threat, Charles travels to L.A. to find his mothe and brother, kicking off a frenetic series of martial arts sequences and a whole lot of family melodrama. The Brothers Sun borrows a lot of its zany, high energy plot antics from Jackie Chan movies, albeit with a thoroughly 21st century sensibility.

By the end of Season 1, the immediate danger has been defeated, but not before Yeoh gets to show off exactly what she can do, leading viewers to ask...

Is The Brothers Sun coming back for Season 2?

The Brothers Sun has only recently been releaased on Netflix, and it is likely that the streaming giant will wait a little while to look at the viewership figures before it makes the decision to renew the show for a second season and bring back Michelle Yeoh, Justin Chien, and Sam Song Li.

However, series creators Byron Wu and Brad Falchuk have high hopes that the titular brothers will return, and plan to explore the impact of the Season 1 finale on Charles, Bruce, and Mama Sun as they settle into the new status quo and get to grips with their changed family dynamic. Mama Sun is now the head of the Sun crime empire, and has accompanied Charles back to Taiwan, leaving Bruce back in Los Angeles.

And then, of course, there's deposed mob boss Big Sun, who is still alive and out for revenge, and Frank Ma, the former triad leader whose testimony could send Big Sun to prison. Plenty of loose ends—or in other words, plenty of plot threads for Season 2.

"The end of the season is a happy moment for the family, but when you’re living as a gangster, you can never truly relax," Wu and Falchuk told Tudum. "And Big Sun is not an enemy that accepts defeat easily... The Sun family will struggle to maintain those clearly defined roles. The children want to be adults!"
