Six little otter pups have made their debut at Brookgreen Gardens, charming visitors with their playfulness and swimming acrobatics three months after they were born.

The pups were born on January 20 at Brookgreen's Lowcountry Zoo in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, near Myrtle Beach, but were kept out of sight while they were growing and developing their swimming skills. According to social media posts, five of the pups are female and one is male.

"Since their arrival, our six otter pups have been flourishing, captivating us all with their adorable antics," Brookgreen Gardens reported in March. "They are in excellent health, thanks to the care of our dedicated zookeepers. The next big step for our baby otters is mastering their swimming skills. Once they're proficient swimmers, they'll be ready to make their grand debut on exhibit for all our guests to see!"

That moment has finally arrived. Now you can watch the otter pups swimming in the indoor river otter habitat from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. We also recommend stopping by Brookgreen's Floyd Family Farm as it's baby goat season.

Brookgreen's zoo features hundreds of native Lowcountry animals, many of which would not survive in the wild. In August, the zoo added a red wolf habitat to help save the species from extinction. You can also see alligators, bald eagles, foxes, owls, and more at the zoo. Brookgreen Gardens is also home to an award-winning botanical garden and more than 2,000 sculptures, making it well worth the trip from Myrtle Beach.
