  • Brooke Shields posed topless wearing only jeans in a denim campaign for Jordache.

  • The supermodel requested the photos “keep it honest” and be as real as possible.

  • “It was important for you to see this is my 56-year-old body and to fight the retouching,” the now 58-year-old said.

Supermodel and actress Brooke Shields is no stranger to modeling denim, but in photos for Jordache, the now 58-year-old took things to the next level: Shields bared it all in a topless photo for the brand’s campaign.

The star said she wanted to show that you can own sexuality at any age (consider us convinced). Working with photographer Cass Bird, the model focused on keeping the topless photos real and honest, depicting her age and body in a realistic light.

“I knew Cass would handle it well, and I also knew it wouldn’t be exploiting at all,” she said in an interview with People. “There’s something about owning your sexuality at this age that is on point for where we are today. It’s not angry empowerment.”

Shields wanted to celebrate her body as it is, since the last time she modeled for a denim campaign she was only 15 years old. “I appreciate it more now,” she told People. “It’s such an honor to be my age and be represented. I feel the magnitude of it more. There’s a knowledge that comes with age, and this feels less like a job and more like a privilege.”

The supermodel also added that she wanted the photos to be authentic, and requested photo editors keep them real. “It was important for you to see this is my 56-year-old body and to fight the retouching,” Shields told People at the time. “I’m always like, ‘You better keep it honest.’ And we did.”

Shields said she wanted to spend time getting stronger so she could feel her absolute best in front of the camera. “I worked so hard with my trainer Ngo Okafor. We did 5 a.m. workouts, but I wasn’t drinking so it was easier to wake up in the morning,” she said. “I pushed it to the limit. My ego helped. I thought, ‘If you do these pictures and you are not happy with what you see, you’ll be hard on yourself.’”

The actress starred in Jordache’s Spring 2022 campaign “You’ve Got The Look,” which promoted inclusion and body positivity. Shields told People the famous Jordache ad slogan was “iconic,” and she was excited to work with the brand.

“Everybody was like, ‘Well, I want the look. You’ve got it, so I want it.’ Jordache was very much a part of that barrier-breaking mentality. They celebrate the idea of being hot and bold and they’ve always featured strong, hard-working, ambitious women in their campaigns,” Shields said in the interview. “It was never just about models. I’ve always appreciated that. It celebrates a different type of advertising and puts the focus on female strength.”

And Jordache was equally excited to partner with Shields for the campaign. “She is iconic in fashion. We have watched her grow from a young girl into an incredible woman, mother, and entrepreneur. Throughout it all, she has remained authentic and an inspiration to women everywhere,” President of Jordache Liz Berlinger said in a press release at the time.

To announce the campaign, Shields posted a funny video to her Instagram account, where she struggled on the floor to tuck her shirt into her jeans. Meanwhile, her phone buzzed with messages from her husband informing her that she was running late.

This isn’t the first time Shields has opened up about feeling hot at any age. In a previous interview with Yahoo! Life Shields revealed details of her journey to self-confidence and how she feels people can be truly hot at any age. Through her intense workouts (like the penguin crunch for abs and epic glute and arm workouts) and beauty regiment (which includes her go-to lash-enhancing serum and eye cream), we’re loving her confidence—and let’s be honest, her timeless look.

Getting to this level of self-confidence and body positivity was not an easy journey for Shields, who revealed that she began to embrace her body with the help of her daughters. “They, in reverse, helped me have [better body image] because I would…I was the hiding one and you know, back out of rooms and just don’t show your curves and it was such a weird thing because my daughters would actually say to me, ‘Mom, you’ve got a body you should just embrace it.’” she told Access Daily.
