'Broken' Pete Davidson Gives Mournful Update After Suffering a Loss

Pete Davidson shared some devastating news with fans regarding the sudden loss of a beloved family member on what otherwise would have been a celebratory day.

"Hey guys. I know today is the Bupkis premiere day but I wanna use today to remember my dog Henry. Yesterday we lost a key member of the Davidson family," the 29-year-old solemnly shared, explaining that the pup was only two years old, "but unfortunately got very sick very fast."

The Bodies Bodies Bodies alum recalled adding Henry to the family during the beginning of the pandemic, describing the adorable little guy as "the happiest and sweetest dog ever" and even going on to credit Henry with saving his life. "Not sure I'd even be around without him," he confessed.

The statement, shared Thursday, May 4, via Instagram by fellow comedian and writer Dave Sirus on behalf of the Saturday Night Live alum, included another fond memory from Davidson's tenure on the late-night NBC sketch comedy show.

"When I was working at SNL my mom would send me videos of him watching, smiling and making noise when I came on screen," The King of Staten Island star fondly remembered, going on to confess that he doesn't watch projects he's starred in with anyone as he's "too scared" but he didn’t mind watching with Henry.

"He was truly the best," the bereaved actor wrote. "My mom, sister and I are broken and will miss him forever."

Davidson's statement concluded, "We love you Henry. Thank you for making our lives fuller and reminding me what actually matters."

The heartbreaking post drew much attention from fans and fellow Hollywood stars, including Davidson's girlfriend and castmate, Chase Sui Wonders, who chimed in with a few emojis, and SNL photographer Mary Ellen Matthews, who wrote, "Sending so much love."

Matthews also worked with Davidson on his new comedy series, Bupkis–co-starring Davidson, Wonders, Edie Falco and Joe Pesci, alongside Ray Romano, Brad Garrett, and many others–described as a dramatized and fictionalized version of Davidson's own life, premieres May 4 exclusively on Peacock.
