Brock Collection RTW Fall 2021
For the fall season, Laura Vassar and Kristopher Brock continued to home in on dressing for the home, with Brock Collection’s signature romance in tow.
A slight equestrian feel ran throughout, seen prominently in the brand’s accessories — long, leather opera gloves, cool leather half-cupped bustiers (brought back from their fall 2015 runway show), thin leather belts and sleek riding boots. Pantsuits made up of boxier, masculine jackets with straight sleeves and wide leg pants, mid-length skirts and sweeping topcoats also carried the idea.

The duo debuted major developments in knitwear, which they’ve been building over time, offering cashmere blend cable groups, as well as wool silk cashmere, wool cashmere, coarsehair and bouclé (both solid and printed in pretty blue and pink shades) in tops, skirts and dresses. The styles were designed as transitional pieces from a seasonal, and also day-to-night perspective. As seen through the look book, these cozy styles were paired under statement coats (like a black shearling number), as full looks and atop romantic skirts.
Vassar and Brock explored printing on new grounds, such as a liquid-y velvet number or floral printed silk dress. Other standouts included a grouping of structured jacquard separates designed to look like patchwork (which felt very reminiscent of the home), a long velvet opera trench coat with big collar and signature white two-piece with corseted top and skirt with sheer lace, ruffles, peplum and boning details.
Although Vassar and Brock had originally planned to shoot the collection in New York, travel restrictions caused them to do so in California (marking their fourth look book in the state). The silver lining? For the first time, Brock took on the role of photographer, shooting model Kirsty Hume near her Topanga home, solely on film. Dark and moody, the images displayed Vassar and Brock’s fall ideas thoughtfully.
“It was something I’d been wanting to do for a long time but it’s also daunting to do at the same time. It feels like it’s a lot of pressure, but I was really excited for the opportunity to do it,” Brock said over Zoom, adding, “I really enjoyed it, it was a lot of fun. You really get to see through to the final product and help promote your point of view from the camera.”
