In the wake of Oprah Winfrey's headline-making sit-down with Meghan Markle and Prince William, sources close to Britney Spears say that the reclusive star is considering her own interview with Oprah. Entertainment Tonight reports that the outpouring of support that came after the New York Times documentary Framing Britney Spears gave the singer confidence that her fans want to hear from her.

The source noted that although Spears hates giving interviews, she feels like Oprah would be the perfect person to speak to. While nothing is in the works just yet, the source says that Spears is ready to take control of her own story.

"Britney has considered speaking out about her past, mostly because she doesn't feel others should tell her story," a source said. "She's always hated doing interviews but if she ever takes that step, Oprah would most likely be her first choice. At this point, there is no plan in the works for her to do an interview but when she does, there will be steps Britney would need to take before speaking out."

The source added that Tweets and comments from fans like Miley Cyrus, Kim Kardashian, and John Mayer have made Spears happier than she's been in a long time. She loves her fans, the source adds, and the outpouring of support that came after Framing Britney Spears showed her that she still has a loyal following that continues to support her.

"Britney has been much happier lately and those closest to her feel it's because she's received such tremendous support from her fans," the source continued. "The release of the documentary has inspired an outpouring of more love than ever. While she hasn't been able to make changes to her conservatorship, she's received millions of messages from fans on social media and she feels far more understood."

Spears's next conservator hearing is on April 27. ET notes that her attorney, Samuel Ingham, is urging the judge to appoint Jodi Montgomery as Spears's permanent conservator. Montgomery is a professionally licensed conservator and became Spears's conservator back in 2019, when her father, Jamie, briefly stepped away from the role, citing health reasons. In August 2020, Spears requested that Montgomery be the permanent conservator, though Jamie continues to be co-conservator.
