Bring fashion week to Fresno? What this Fresno State senior wants to do

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The president of Fresno State Fashion Inc. Sarah Delgado, is graduating in May, but she’s not leaving Fresno – she wants to spearhead a plan to bring a fashion week to the city to solidify Fresno’s fashionable future.

Delgado says she feels honored to be able to mesh Fresno’s fashion community with the Fresno State student body. She says that while it is true that Fresno’s fashion scene is underdeveloped, that may not be a bad thing.

“I feel like it (Fresno’s fashion scene) is more accessible,” Delgado said, “it’s a little bit like a family.”

So far, Delgado has been able to collaborate with the smaller fashion scene, including Paul Mitchell, Just Porch It, and Neighborhood Industries to name a few.

Delgado is the current director of The Enchanted Forest fashion show; though it may be her last show on campus, she says it is only the beginning of what’s coming next.

“Fashion is an underappreciated art here in Fresno,” Delgado said, “we have very talented designers and stylists who use clothes and models as the canvas.”

The Enchanted Forest show will be Delgado’s farewell show at Fresno State’s Smittcamp Alumni House. All of the show’s proceeds will benefit Fashion Inc.
