Brigitte Macron and Mary, Crown Princess of Denmark Do Twinning Style in Copenhagen

The French first lady, Brigitte Macron, and the Danish monarch made a bold impression in coordinating colors in the Danish capital.

Brigitte Macron likes to make a statement with her wardrobe. From mod-silhouetted minidresses to strong-shouldered blazers, the first lady of France has never shied away from bold fashion risks. And earlier today in Copenhagen, Macron, joined by husband President Emmanuel Macron, twinned with her host nation’s monarch, Mary, Crown Princess of Denmark, in red frocks.

Macron’s custom Louis Vuitton look fell in line with her usual streamlined and directional approach to dress, while also recalling pieces favored by Jackie Kennedy in the 1960s.

Mary, Crown Princess of Denmark, opted for a coordinating shade of cardinal. The keyhole neckline and below-the-knee length are similar to styles favored by fellow royal Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, but the Danish monarch infused the ensemble with lively contrast and texture through her accessories. Python stilettos were a cool twist, while a cherry-red crocodile clutch felt especially polished as paired with Her Majesty’s kidskin gloves and diamond leaf brooch.
