Brigitte Bardot's Husband Speaks Out After Actress Is Treated by First Responders

Brigitte Bardot was treated by first responders, who rushed to her home after she began to experience breathing issues.
The Hollywood icon’s husband, Bernard d’Ormale, spoke with local outlet Var-matin to give insight as to what led to the health incident.
“It was around 9 a.m. when Brigitte had trouble breathing,” he told the French outlet, explaining that it happened at the couple's Saint-Tropez residence.
“[Her breathing] was stronger than usual but she did not lose consciousness. Let’s call it a moment of respiratory distraction,” he noted of the 88-year-old former actress.
First responders reportedly gave her oxygen and stayed for a bit to watch her and ensure everything was headed appropriately.
d’Ormale seemed to suggest that the recent warm weather, which has been in the 90s in the coastal town on the French Riviera, played a factor, noting, “Like all people of a certain age, she can no longer bear the heat.
“It happens at 88 years old," he added. "She must not make useless efforts.”
Bardot was one of the most in-demand actresses in the ‘50s and ‘60s before exiting the spotlight at the height of her career in the early ‘70s after being reportedly fed up with “the pace of work” and being “the endless subject of a camera lens,” James Clarke, the author of “Being Bardot,” told Fox News.
In a rare interview with Vogue Homme in 2012 she confirmed that her time in Hollywood was “awful” and a “nightmare,” stating she “couldn’t live like that anymore.”
Famous for portraying sexually emancipated characters—which lent itself to her sex symbol status— she appeared in a handful of notable projects like The Legend of Frenchie King, Shalako, Contempt, The Edifying and Joyous Story of Colinot and Don Juan, or If Don Juan Were a Woman.
However, following her exit from the limelight, Bardot became an activist dedicated to fighting for animal rights, making her somewhat of a controversial figure.
