Probably the number-one characteristic I look for in a makeup product — and especially in an eye makeup product — is that it's quick to use. If it's something I can pat, swipe or scribble on, then maybe spend two seconds blending out with my finger, I'm sold.
That's what has me truly hooked on Jillian Dempsey Lid Tint. While every shade of this dewy-finish cream eye shadow from the makeup artist's eponymous brand are pretty and versatile, it's the pale, pearly champagne "Shell" that has become a reliable staple in my makeup bag. No matter how quickly or clumsily I pat my finger into it, then tap it at the inner corners of my eyes and along my brow bones, I find that the result is almost always a good one.
I particularly love this versatile shade because it's brightening but subtle, lending a not-too-sparkly bit of luminosity that makes me look a little more awake. It's also perfect for creating a faintly gleam-y highlight while still allowing a look to remain firmly planted in the no-makeup makeup category. The balm-like formula — which is spiked with antioxidants and shea butter, for a little skin-care moment — melts seamlessly into lids. For those who are prone to oiliness or who crave enhanced opacity and staying power, I recommend layering it over a powder formula for some extra oomph.
