Brie Larson and Alex Greenwald Have Called Off Their Engagement
Brie Larson and musician Alex Greenwald have ended their engagement of almost three years, multiple sources have told People. “They have taken a step back from their engagement for the time being but they remain close,” a source told the outlet.
Greenwald and Larson dated for several years, People pointed out, before they got engaged in May 2016. Greenwald has also largely been absent from Larson's Instagram. Their last photo on her Insta is from the end of November. "Happiness quite unshared can scarcely be called happiness; it has no taste.” #CharlotteBrontë," Larson captioned the shot.
Larson was last on Greenwald's Instagram in April last year:

Larson, who's starring in the upcoming Captain Marvel, generally kept her love life private, but she did have glowing things to say about Greenwald to Entertainment Tonight in January 2016, months before the two got engaged. When asked about her then-boyfriend supporting her, Larson gushed, "Oh man, I mean, he's the other half of the equation-how can you explain support? I mean, it goes beyond anything. He's just my person, he's my best friend."
When the two got engaged, Larson's rep confirmed the news and Larson herself showed off the ring while arriving at the Saturday Night Live after party; she had hosted that weekend. Greenwald was said then to have proposed to Larson during a Tokyo trip in March 2016.
