Bridgerton's Makeup Artists Revealed the $8 Balm They Used to Keep the Actor's Lips Soft and Supple

Bridgereton's lead makeup artists just divulged the multiuse balm they used on the actor's to protect and repair their lips in between scenes. Lo and behold, it's none other than Dr. Pawpaw Original Multipurpose Soothing Balm, which you can score on Amazon for less than ten bucks.

"[It] was a staple product in most of our cast bags, even the men," says Marc Pilcher, who served as head hair and makeup designer for the hit Netflix show, of the best-selling ointment. "It provided everyone with protection against the elements when we filmed during the winter and on night shoots."

Hair and makeup artist Lynda Pearce also sings its praises. "We used the Original Multipurpose Soothing Balm on Phoebe Dynevor who played Daphne Bridgerton to achieve a natural look," she says in a press email sent to Allure.  "We often mixed it with a lip liner or lip stain, or sometimes applied it just on its own. It's a fantastic product to keep the lips hydrated and glowing."

When it comes to application, Pilcher recommends keeping it simple. "[Just] use a finger to apply it to yourself [and] if you are applying to someone else then use a lipstick brush," he advises. "It was great for use on this period drama as we needed most of our cast to look natural and fresh and have beautiful lips in a natural way."

It's no wonder the soothing balm came in such handy on set, considering it's packed with ultra-nourishing ingredients like vitamins A, C, and E, which, as Pilcher explains, really helps to protect the lips — as well as heal existing cracks and dryness. It also happens to be an Allure favorite for hydrating dry spots, moisturizing lips, and even taming flyaways. (We also love that it comes in tinted versions for when you want a touch of color.)
