Brides has released their 2024 Wedding Color of the Year in collaboration with Minted, and it falls in line with many of the interior designers' choices we've seen this year: a classy, cobalt blue that feels fresh and timeless all at once. Named Marseille Bleu for the coastal city in France it was inspired by, the color also takes influence from French painter Yves Klein, who's known for using bright blue in his works.

Together, Minted and Brides seek to ease the planning process with their Wedding Color of the Year by helping happy couples find an on-trend color theme that won’t go out of style by the time of their event. The lead up to the big day can take a good amount of time, so Marseille Bleu is designed to stay relevant in 2024 and beyond.

Minted, an art and design shop that makes wedding-related paper goods, sources all of their pieces from independent artists to help distribute their work straight to customers. They've partnered with Brides—the most popular wedding resource—in the past to create unique products and designs. This particular collaboration comes from the goal of allow engaged couples to predict upcoming wedding trends, from decor to invitations (and features a stationery collection in the new colorway).

The team landed on the deep blue shade through analyzing emerging trends, overdone ideas, and what colors they've seen pop up on ready-to-wear and bridal runways. And after a year of Barbie pinks, it offers a much-needed change of pace.

The color suits winter or summer ceremonies, feminine or masculine energy, and modern or timeless themes—but there’s a lot more to Marseille Bleu than just nuptials.

Marseille Bleu's versatility and elegance applies to home decor, too: It adds a fresh, sophisticated color, whether you’re going for minimalism or a bold retro look. Blue already has traction in the interior design world, with brands like Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams, Valspar, and more naming shades of blue as their Colors of the Year. Deeper tones especially are trending for everything from walls to decor accents. Create a moody powder room with a similar paint color and use color drenching for an exciting (but not overpowering) feel in any sace.

You can purchase stylish stationery in Marseille Bleu on Minted as part of the collaboration and find an in-depth guide with everything you need to know about using the color in your wedding via Brides.
