Bride warns TikTok about Shutterfly captions for wedding albums: 'This is such a common mistake'
Photo books can be a heartwarming way to remember special days, like weddings, but as Niki Nibs (@niki_nibs) found out, it might be essential to take a second look before you hit “purchase.”
In her TikTok, Nibs showed off the book her mother made of her wedding day — complete with the auto-captions Shutterfly generated that her mom forgot to delete.
“Sunny and sweet,” read one such caption beneath a picture of the new bride and groom. “Best lemonade stand ever!”
“Not the groomsmen being labeled summer winter spring and fall like it’s a spicy calendar,” wrote @brianneleighton in the comment section.
Nibs explained in her TikTok that while the captions in the book didn’t exactly match the pictures they accompanied, it was still her “favorite wedding gift EVER.”
She added that her mother is “single-handedly the most hilarious person we know, and its usually completely on accident.”
Many people in the comment section claimed to be Shutterfly employees and got a big kick out of the situation.
“I work for Shutterfly and this is such a common mistake lol,” noted @shelbz1995.
“Omg I work at Shutterfly this is so funny,” added @itshealybitch.
“I work on the design team at Shutterfly, sending this to everyone,” wrote @jesslejdesign with several laughing emojis.
“PLEASE DO,” responded Nibs.
Commenters also shared that Nibs’ mother wasn’t alone in not realizing Shutterfly’s auto-generated captions don’t automatically delete.
“I forgot to change the caption on my shutterfly holiday cards (from the year we got married) so everyone got cards from a Megan and Blake,” confessed @canalpeople.
“I forgot to change the caption on our first dance page and it says ‘Marvin swept me out onto the floor’ My husband is Colby,” added @ashleycutswood.
“My friend got her wedding album and her photo with her bridesmaids had no dogs in the photo and the caption said ‘bride with her FURRY friends’,” @ruhrohrhonda shared.
Several commenters also encouraged Nibs to contact Shutterfly for a corrected free book, especially because it’s a common mistake. And when one commenter suggested that her husband should frame the picture of himself in his full groom glory with the caption “Joy of Life,” Shutterfly did respond.
“The new portrait placement is perfection! #joyoflife,” @shutterfly wrote, adding an orange heart.
Mistakes and all, some saw the photo book as a fortuitous mixup that brought more joy than a “real” one would have.
“This is the best gift she could have given you. When she’s gone this will bring you so much laughter,” said @kydnerd82.
“She just gifted you a lifetime of laughter,” added @baller_momma.
