Brian Wilson; Jeffrey Foskett

Brian Wilson is saying goodbye to his good friend and Beach Boys bandmate, Jeffrey Foskett.

Foskett, a longtime guitarist and singer for the "Good Vibrations" group, died Monday, Dec. 11, after years of battling anaplastic thyroid cancer. He was 67.

"Im so heartbroken that my dear friend Jeff Foskett has passed," Wilson, 81, began a heartfelt Instagram tribute for the late musician earlier this week. "Jeff was always there for me when we toured and we couldn’t have done it without him."

Foskett first joined the Mike Love-fronted Beach Boys in the early '80s, becoming both a studio and touring musician of the band. He also toured with Wilson's solo band for over a decade and later joined both Wilson and Love when they briefly reunited for their 50th Anniversary Tour in 2012.

In his Instagram caption, Wilson went on to talk about Foskett's talent, calling him "one of the most talented guys I ever knew."

"He was a great musical leader and guitarist and he could sing like an angel," the co-founder of the famous band added.

Telling his followers about his first encounter with Foskett, Wilson wrote, "I first met Jeff in 1976 when he knocked on my door in Bel Air and I invited him in, and we were friends ever since."

"I don’t know what else to say," he added while wishing "Love and Mercy to Jeff’s family and friends."

"We will remember him forever," he concluded.

Wilson's emotional post was met with an outpouring of support from his followers and fans, including a message from his daughter, who left a comment under her father's post to say, "I know it hurts Daddy. We will miss him. I love you ❤️."
