Brian Cox Thinks Logan Roy's Death Was "Too Early" in Succession's Final Season

Brian Cox has some thoughts and feelings about his character Logan Roy's death on the final season of Succession.

Speaking to BBC's Amol Rajan, Cox said he believes Logan's death was "ultimately too early" in season four, and thinks it should've happened in the fifth or sixth episode.

"I was fine with it ultimately, but I did feel a little bit rejected. You know, I felt a little bit, oh, all the work I've done and finally I'm going to, you know, end up as an ear on a carpet of a plane," Cox told Rajan.

He also said he believes there's a chance Logan is still alive, which is highly unlikely. "This could be part of an elaborate ruse to find out. Well, if you think about it, from Logan's point of view, he has to find out, how are his children going to behave when he dies, what will then happen? And the only way to do that is to fake his death and actually, at some distant point he's observing the chaos that is following," Cox says.

After Logan's death in episode three, Cox told Town & Country, "I’ve been doing this for a number of years, so I don’t really have a problem saying goodbye. I’ve said goodbye to many characters in my time. This is a truly great role in a series that I think will reverberate for years to come because it’s so ahead of its time in its depiction of the wealthy getting crazier and crazier."

He added, "Life doesn’t stop when Logan Roy stops, it only stops when Brian Cox does—and hopefully that doesn’t happen for a few weeks."
