Breeze Airways Is Launching a New Route to Florida for the Winter — and Airfare Starts at $69 for a Limited Time

The new route will operate seasonally from New York’s MacArthur Airport in Islip, Long Island to Vero Beach, Florida.

Low-cost airline Breeze Airways is continuing to expand with a new flight from New York to Florida in time for a warm-weather winter escape.

The new route, which will launch on Dec. 21, will be operated seasonally from New York’s MacArthur Airport in Islip, Long Island to Vero Beach, Florida, Breeze shared with Travel + Leisure. The route will be flown twice each week on Thursdays and Sundays through April 28, 2024.

When it launches, this will be the first time Vero Beach is served commercially from Islip, according to the airline.

“Vero Beach has been a huge success since we started service in February,” David Neeleman, Breeze Airways’ founder and CEO, said in a statement shared with T+L. “And our Guests have been very vocal about adding the service from Islip too. ISP leadership’s own data also demonstrated the strength of this market. Now Long Islanders can grab a seriously comfortable, seriously affordable, and seriously nice winter Florida getaway to one of Florida’s best-kept secrets.”

The airline, which was founded in 2021 by former JetBlue founder Neeleman, first launched flights to Vero Beach last year from Hartford, Conn., and from Westchester County, NY. This new route will be the sixth destination Breeze flies to from the Long Island airport.

To celebrate the new flights, Breeze is offering one-way fares starting at just $69. To take advantage, travelers must book the new route by 11:59 p.m. ET on Oct. 9 and travel by April 28, 2024. The sale excludes several blackout dates from Dec. 21 to Jan. 7, 2024, from Feb. 15 to Feb. 25, from March 28 to March 31, and from April 18 to April 28.

All routes to and from Vero Beach will be flown on the airline’s Airbus A220-300 aircraft, which includes the company’s newest product, Breeze Ascent, that comes with checked baggage, complimentary snacks and beverages, and in-seat AC power and USB and USB-C charging ports. Overall, Breeze operates a low-cost model with three fare options: “Nice,” “Nicer,” and “Nicest.”

Breeze doesn’t charge any change or cancellation fees for any of its flights up to 15 minutes before departure.
