BREAKING NEWS: 'Yellowstone' Is Coming to One Shocking End

After months of speculation, the news Yellowstone fans have been anticipating has been confirmed: Yellowstone is ending its run after season 5. The show has been a huge success for Paramount Network, with 17 million viewers tuning in for the season 5 premiere. But off-screen, drama regarding the show's future (and Kevin Costner's involvement) has been the source of rampant rumors.

Paramount added that the second half of season 5 will return in November, not the summer as previously announced. In a press release, the network confirmed, "the epic, final cycle of Yellowstone...will debut in November."

While this is not the news any fans were hoping for, the network did offer a glimmer of excitement: A new Yellowstone sequel is in the works set to debut in December on Paramount+. The cast has not yet been announced, but this might be the opportunity for Matthew McConaughey to join the franchise. Because it's a sequel that picks up where Yellowstone leaves off, it's possible that some of the existing cast will continue on the new series, but that has not been addressed.

Paramount Network made the announcement on May 5 with a statement from Chris McCarthy, President & CEO Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios. He said, “Yellowstone has been the cornerstone on which we have launched an entire universe of global hits - from 1883 to Tulsa King, and I am confident our Yellowstone sequel will be another big hit, thanks to the brilliant creative mind of Taylor Sheridan and our incredible casts who bring these shows to life.”

David Glasser, CEO, 101 Studios, added, "The Dutton story continues, picking up where Yellowstone leaves off in another epic tale. We are thrilled to bring this new journey to audiences around the world."
