A Breakdown of the Kim-Kanye-Trump Drama Happening on Twitter Right Now

After Kanye West tweeted a seemingly pro–Donald Trump message, Kim Kardashian seemingly jumped to his defense, citing that he's a 'free thinker.'

Kim Kardashian West just posted a super-lengthy Twitter thread defending one of Kanye West's pro–Donald Trump tweets. What, did you expect for nothing to happen today? It's Wednesday!

Anyway, here's what happened. On Wednesday (April 25) West posted a photo to Twitter of one of the hallways in the West home and captioned it, "Do this look like the Sunken Place," referring to the horror film Get Out. For the record, no, the hallway doesn't look like the Sunken Place, but it does look like an updated version of where those dead girls play in The Shining.

That's besides the point, though. What matters is Kardashian West then replied, jokingly asking if they can now include their home on Keeping Up With the Kardashians since West broke their apparent rule about not posting pics of it on social media. It was a harmless and silly message that should've received no attention.

Of course that didn't happen. These are the Kardashians, not Bobby from Queer Eye or some other person who doesn't get the shine they deserve. News outlets ran with this story like the one time I ran a mile in high school. The Daily Mail posted a tweet that read, "Kim Kardashian scolds Kanye West on Twitter after he shares pictures of family home amid another bizarre tirade." It's important to note that the day before this, West also posted some business updates about Yeezy that people were quick to deem erratic.

All this began the transition from Kim Kardashian's Funny Tweets to Kim Kardashian's Serious Tweets.

"Oh RELAX I’m joking! Seriously you can’t have a personality on social media these days or your called bizarre or disturbing," Kardashian wrote in response to he Daily Mail's headline.

That was the end of it—for an hour. Then West took a page out of the Shania Twain book and said something positive about President Donald Trump. "You don't have to agree with trump but the mob can't make me not love him," West wrote. "We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone. I don't agree with everything anyone does. That's what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought."

I'm not even going to try and understand what West meant by this. The fact of the matter is this ticked people off—and they grew even more irate when he started saying more Trump-happy stuff.

"If your friend jumps off the bridge you don't have to do the same," he tweeted. "Ye being Ye is a fight for you to be you. For people In my life the idea of Trump is pretty much a 50 50 split but I don't tell a Hillary supporter not to support Hillary
I love Hillary too...I love when people have their own ideas. You don't have to be allowed anymore. Just be. Love who you want to love. That's free thought. I'm not even political. I'm not a democrat or a republican."

At this point, Kim apparently called West and told him to clarify his tweets. (I need to hear that convo ASAP.) "My wife just called me and she wanted me to make this clear to everyone. I don't agree with everything Trump does. I don't agree 100% with anyone but myself," West tweeted.

This really didn't help things, though, seeing as how minutes later West started posting pics of himself wearing a "Make America Great Again Hat"...

Trump even responded to West's original tweet, writing, "Thank you Kanye, very cool!" Wow. This is even more dramatic than the time Kardashian lost her diamond earrings in the ocean.

Later, West shared Trump's tweet that praised him because of course he did. My God.

Finally, this is where Kardashian jumped in. She posted a long thread in defense of West— saying that while she may not agree with all his politics, she supports his right to say what he wants. She then condemned tabloids for haphazardly saying West has mental health problems, which, fair. Here's what she said, in full:

"To the media trying to demonize my husband let me just say this... your commentary on Kanye being erratic & his tweets being disturbing is actually scary. So quick to label him as having mental health issues for just being himself when he has always been expressive is not fair. Yesterday it was announced that Kanye had parted ways with some business people and media outlets made this about Kanye’s mental health. Rather than just a simple business decision. So I’m glad he tweeted about the state of his company and all of the exciting things happening. He’s a free thinker, is that not allowed in America? Because some of his ideas differ from yours you have to throw in the mental health card? That’s just not fair.

He’s actually out of the sunken place when he’s being himself which is very expressive. Now when he spoke out about Trump... Most people (including myself) have very different feelings & opinions about this. But this is HIS opinion. I believe in people being able to have their own opinions, even if really different from mine. He never said he agrees with his politics. Kanye will never run in the race of popular opinion and we know that and that’s why I love him and respect him and in a few years when someone else says the same exact thing but they aren’t labeled the way he is and you will all praise them! Kanye is years ahead of his time. Mental Health is no joke and the media needs to stop spitting that out so casually. Bottom line."

Annnnnd scene. Honestly, I can't wait to see how this all unfolds on Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
